Lil' Aubrey

The day to day ramblings of a newly adopted 6-month old girl, and all the wacky things that make up her life. If you even mention the fact that I'm too young to have a blog, I'm gonna' get cranky. You wouldn't like me cranky!

Crawling is so Passe'

Well, I did it....finally. I finally pooped a vast quantity of sewage that my diaper just couldn't hold. I was pretty proud of myself, as Daddy gagged up a storm. I knew that if I pushed hard enough and long enough, I could make a diaper that weighed almost as much as me...and it did. To make cleaning me especially challenging, the entire time I was trying to "probe myself". Daddy would yell, "No!", and pull my hand away, and each time he did that, I giggled and put my hand back down there again. You see, I have no shame. This is an ordinary procedure for me every time my diaper is removed. Diaper gone? It's Probing Time! It only takes a couple seconds, and I'm there. After all, I'm always wearing a diaper...when do I get the chance to explore "down there"? If I'm in the bath, I'm too busy trying to blow bubbles with my face in the water, so that leaves only these special moments to share with Mom and Dad.

Oh yeah...and I figured out how to walk too! Yes, my peeps...I am walking up a storm, and have almost entirely given up that old method of traveling....and I'm fast. Oh yeah...Gail Devers, watch out! (At least I think that's what that woman runner's name is). What's fun about walking, is that I now have a whole slew of new places to explore...like the second shelf of the pantry, and the top of every table, and the wine bottles that are a few rows up. Pretty much the only time I crawl now is when I go up the stairs (one of my favorite things to do). I still haven't been allowed to crawl down (not that I know how), but going up is easy as pie...giving me access to areas like my brother's room, Mom & Dad's room, the bathrooms, video games, bookshelves, and the TV in the guest room. I know how to turn on and off every TV in the house, and the first thing I usually do when I go upstairs is turn them all on.

I've decided to become more vocal as well, and will gladly yell at anyone I see. One of my favorite games is "copy cat", where I yell really loud, and then other people yell back at me. It can go back and forth for 5-10 minutes at a stretch. Somehow, people that don't live in my house don't understand the rules of the game, as they only give me funny looks when I yell at them. I also like to play "copy cat" at the dinner table. I will sit in my high chair and rock my head back and forth, and then Daddy and Brother will copy me. That makes me laugh a lot, and I'm too damn cute for anyone not to play this game with me! As far as real words go, I still only know a few, like "Mama", "Dada", "Brother", "Ouch", and "Go!" ("Go!" must be the name of the dog, as that is what Mommy and Daddy always yell at her - so when I see the dog, I'll sometimes yell, "Go!")

I've been cutting more teeth lately....my eye teeth are almost all in now, and I have nearly 300 teeth in my mouth now. I'm like a shark....and I like to bite - when I'm happy, when I'm playing, and very much when I'm mad. I had overheard that my brother never had a problem with biting when he was a baby, so I figured I'd give Mommy and Daddy a new challenge to deal with! Also, by the way, I have a very cute smile. Right now, I've got a little space between my two front teeth. I'm sure that it won't be very cute when I'm older, and I'll probably get it fixed, but for right now? CUTE! If Daddy get's motivated, he'll try and get a picture of me when I'm smiling. It's not easy, as I only smile my wide Cheshire Cat grin when I feel like it.

Speaking of pictures, no new pictures this week. Hopefully we'll get some on here next week. Right now, I'm going to go to sleep (cause I can only type this when everyone thinks I'm in bed sleeping!), and dream about the yummy whipped cream that sits on Starbuck's Frappucinos!
